I’ve got a Vicon 247 hay cutter up for sale that was given to me in a trade. I didn’t notice it but a potential buyer did. The bar is pitted and has some holes in it. Can these be welded up or, don’t laugh but JB welded ? The cutter works great, has new belts. It needs 3 skid plates as well. I’ve got it up for 2k. Any idea it’s repairable or pretty much run it till it locks up ?

I have successfully welded up a small hole in a Krone cutter bar (caused by bent blades scraping).

JB Weld is pretty strong stuff. Worth a try. You would want a good bond in case of pressure buildup inside the cutter bar.

My first thought is actually weld it, but without knowing how thin the surrounding material is, that’s definitely for you to inspect and decide. I’ve JB welded so stuff that held a long time, but you never know when it will eventually fail.

Either way it’s absolutely worth a shot.
