Make sure your blade is not slightly grooved as it doesn't take much of a groove to make a difference on that small diameter round bale plastic twine. Grind it flat if the least bit of a groove.

I'll add to what Mike stated to be sure support(key 21) is free of any grooves & knife is setting square with it. Have you tried relocating any of the shim washers(key 23) to put more pressure on knife? Back when I utilized twine before I got a baler with surface wrap I wrapped a bungee cord around U shaped part of link(key 5) to add more tension on knife.

Had a 535 same problem. Ended up taking the twine arms off and cleaning up the pivot point.

That's a good point. It's easy to overlook greasing the twine tubes pivot points because they're not easily accessed under the baler hitch especially as one AGES.

 

All these pointers will help and I found if it was working fine all day and then quit cutting it was time to grease it to add to steve's point.

 

I had a 535 that did not cut good. I loosened the knife and put a razor blade under it. Adjusted till edge of razor blade just barely stuck out, then tightened knife back. Worked perfectly, lasted a long time.
