Hello. Hoping someone has some insight on this . I have a 766 international tractor that needs the injection pump redone . It’s very expensive to have pumps serviced here so looked for a used working one . Found a good one from
A 1066 cab fire donor tractor . The pumps look the same and looks as if it will fit . I’m wondering if if adjusting the fuel screw to deliver less would make this a successful swap . Any thoughts welcome.

Adjust so has just a little black smoke under full load and you'll be fine.

We had both those tractors when I was younger. Still have the 7. As far as I know both pumps are the same. Be aware that not only is the fuel rate different, but it is possible the high idle rpm is different, depending on the year of the respective tractors. The donor pump would have to be a known good pump before I would mess with a swap. I recall very well the we had to get the pump on our 1066 rebuilt while we owned it. Head was worn out I believe. When it was warmed up it would tend to die if throttled back.
