New Holland 472

Hello. New to the site. Own a 472. The chain thay drives the top roller and the big sprocket on the right side under the flip up cover is loose. I crawled under and loosened the bolt and tried turning the adjustment clockwise and it will not budge. I've tapped it with a hammer, a bar and both ways and it won't budge. I actually bent the adjuster. I didn't want to put heat on it for risk of a grease fire. Any way to deal with this? The slack adjuster has plenty of adjustability in the slide but the eccentric won't move. Putting hay down tomorrow and don't want this chain coming off. Thanks for any help

Remove the shield, chain and belt. remove the center bolt holding the pulley and gear onto the shaft. Remove the pulley and sprocket. Remove the 3/8" bolt from the bracket you are trying to move under the machine. You should now have enough room where you can drive the shaft towards the center of the haybine from the outside. You will need something heavier than a punch when driving the shaft out. If you have a one inch shaft to place against the eccentric shaft would be preferable. Do not hit on the small portion of the eccentric shaft that the pulley sets on.
Thank you Mike10 for your reply. After I get it out, does it usually need replaced with a new one or does it just need cleaned up, greased and put back in?
Clean it up and lubricate. While it is out, run a thread tap through the 3/8" nuts for the adjusting plate to frame.
