They will run ok up to 590 if in time properly from my experience.

Does anyone know if it is ok to run the 336 right at 540? Or does it work better a little slower? Thanks

If baling at or near capacity 540 is the desired pto speed. If baling below capacity then a lower rpm is fine. I would never advise any machine to be operated over advertised pto speed. IMHO engineers stated the optimum pto speed for good reasons.
