JD 567 used

A buddy of mine is selling his jd567 baler. He’s a row cropper and ended up with it on a trade deal and is wanting to part with it. Currently I don’t have a bale count or year on it (I’m traveling for work a lot recently) but I have some pics and looked it over. Sprockets and chains have nearly no wear, cylinders don’t have much residue around them (indicating no leaking), and it looks like any damage is cosmetic. Standard pickup non hydraulic lift, twine only, no kicker, monitor and harness (harness was repaired I think it got caught in a driveline). I’m very good with equipment but new to the belt baler world. What are your thoughts on this model, what are things I need to look at before I decide, and what price range am I looking at. I have always heard the Rural King net is much cheaper, but doesnt hold as tight. And you have to put on almost double the wrap to keep the bale together. Cheaper to use the more expensive JD wrap.

It is hard to say if the Ruralking wrap falls apart because we net wrapped and then we plastic wrapped this year. So, we changed two things at once. The rural king bales did not sit out in the weather to get judged.

Due to the fact that we plastic wrapped, it made sense to use the cheaper $200 rural king versus the $349 JD wrap. i was worried that the non JD wrap would not work in the baler well. That was not the case though. It was fed, wrapped and cut just fine. We do have some custom bales we did from last summer so I might check with those customers to see what they thought of the rural king wrap.

If I were wrapping, then I would have made the same choice.

Got it for 5700 at an auction, he should have taken my offer. Immediately hauled it to the tire shop to get new tires. Plan to take all of the belts off and measure them when I get it home. Thanks for all of the help, I really appreciate it.

I actually hooked my new belts to the old belts and ran them via the PTO to not worry about rethreading. Worked well.

I bought those tension springs from All States Ag at a discount from JD. Good luck and glad you got it at the bottom of the suggested price.

None of your pictures show the chain sprockets but if it has more than 15,000+ bales they should have a fair amount of wear on them and you might want to look at replacing those.

Good luck and hope it all works. Some of your sensors might be giving you false alarms if it has sit for awhile. Sometimes it can take a few bales before they start working correctly after sitting for a long time.
