I am running a Gehl 2580 with the extra wide pickup on a JD 4020. There does not seam to be more than an inch of travel when raising the pickup, which runs way too low in some of the soft ground fields that I bale and scraps the road when traveling. I turned the drawbar over, even though it's above their recommendations, because otherwise it is way too low for every thing. Has anyone encountered this problem? The dirt clods in back of the head are getting a little old.

You are saying with the pickup in working position it is up so high it only has an inch of travel? I have never heard of that but my first wonder is if the tractor has smaller rear tires than it should.
I would be very careful changing the drawbar/pto relationship.
Tractordata says a 4020 should have 15.5-38 tires.

Hopefully this issue was fixed. It’s ten years old.

(Also it sounds like it was down way too low rather than being up so high)
