I am thinking about getting either a maxilator or a W R Long Grapalator to pick up bales. I don't have a skidsteer and will be using this on a full size tractor. does anybody else do this or is it to difficult to see bales on the ground?

You shouldn't get the Maxilator because it is too short even for 36" bales. It is okay to run it on a tractor and it works fine but you will have to go a bit slower and make sure it's a couple inches off the ground.
I have a Maxilator and make 36" bales and have no problems with bales fitting with bunches of 10 - 8 going longways and 2 on the end going crossways to tie the stack. I've accumulated with it and don't like it for that because these fields are so rough it's difficult to keep it close to the ground to do its job. I accumulate with a drag type and use the Maxilator to grab and stack. It works good for that. I prefer using a skidsteer over a tractor because of visibility.

Any pointers. We will be retiring our Hoelscher and going to an AE10 this year.
