When I was a kid and they plowed all the steep hills around here.. I remember  old IH crawlers like a TD6 or Td9 pulling 3 to 5 bottom on land plows

Thanks Mate for your Comment,That TD6 was pulling a 5 farrow plough which I think was too much for it 3 would have been prefect !

Sadly the reason farmers in this area used tracks to plow back in the 50s. Is because the hills were nothing but 1 washout gulley after another. Fields were washed out that bad a rubber  tire tractor would not cross the ruts . So they plowed them shut again with a cleat track to wash out again.
