im looking to rebuild the sickle bar on my old haybine. Icut alfalfa and orchard grass mostly. Im leaning towards topserrated knives. Is that what you would do? Whos a good supplier. Been looking at webb cutter parts. I also need the bolts for each knife. Cant seem to find those online. Dealer only maybe? Thanks for any wisdom.

Have you priced a complete cutter bar?  Used to be cheaper than buying all the sections and bolts, let alone the time to change them.  This was a loooonnng tme ago for me, so maybe this isn't the case anymore.

What do you have for stores in your area? Around here we have Mills Fleet Farm, Runnings, Tractor Supply, and a few other farm supply stores. All of them carry guards, sections, bolts, rivets, hold downs and more. Any one of them will cost less then a dealership.

Ive got a big R but they got bought by Stock and Field awhile back. Ever since then theyve been struggling. Tractor supply and rural kings are about an hr away but ill try them.

Definitely top serrated. Wouldn’t even consider anything else. Make sure your rock guards have a nice square corner where the sickle rides on the ledger.

The Big R buy us is now a stock and field as well and ever since they all got bought out you walk into the store and you think they're closing... it's kind of depressing because where I live there were no ag stores for 50 miles and this one is four miles away. My dad used to work in their gun Department and said some 32 year old millionaire bought the company
