Hi all,
I have about 15 acres of grassy hay standing that I was going to sell to my neighbor. He is doing 4x5; what should the price per bale be? I have charged $8 per bale for 4x4 the previous year. I was thinking $10 per bale 4x5.
Thanks for you input/advice.

A 4x4 bale is 50.25 cubic feet, where a 4x5 bale is 78.5 cubic feet. That's 56% more hay by volume. $8 x 1.56=12.48.

With that being said, remember that each operator packs their bales differently, so the ideal method is to weigh some bales and then price it per ton.

Thanks very much for the information; makes sense.
