Currently have a New Holland 258 Hay Rake with dolly wheels. Looking to purchase a used jack for rake to convert back to jack system instead of dolly wheels.

Posting location would help. I have a feeling you can find a hitch and jack in a heartbeat if you’re interesting in trading someone your dolly setup.

Be sure you want to do this BEFORE trading.  I've ran both rakes with and without.

Some advantages of no dolly easier to back up.

Disadvantage, tight turns rake can mount rear tractor tire (my grandfather seemed to be proficient at this,  especially turning to the left  :( ).

Dolly advantages, can pull with ATV (cheaper on fuel, too) on top of turning shorter, easier to hook up (no jacking), possibly cleaner raking (following the ground a little bit better because of wheel location).

Biggest disadvantage, backing up is much more difficult.

Which one do I still have? Dolly type.  Usually pulled by ATV, almost 100% of time in 2 wheel drive.

We actually have two 258 rakes, one with jack and one with dolly wheels, totally understand what you are saying about hooking to our UTV but feel backing up ability is more important. Thanks for your information though appreciate it.
