If hay is cured and is too fine, short and dry to round bale
And nighttime humidity does not get to 30% until very late

Will it spoil if baled with dew early in morning?

By 930 it will be grinding to dust and flying everywhere

I tried a couple and my probe read 32% so I waited until later, but this only gives me an hour.,,

Ideas? Advice?

Thanks

You have 2 windows to bale hay at perfect moisture if it was to dry and then got to 32%.

bale as dew was coming on and as it is coming off.

If hay is bone dry and dew comes on you can bale at higher moisture readings as the stem is bone dry and moisture probe will read high as the moisture is on the outside.

My favorite way to bale hay is as dew is coming off of hay that has been bone dry.I typically have a 3 hr window to get it baled in near perfect moisture content.

Making bigger windrows helps to keep moisture longer in morning and bales much better with out it betting dry so quick
