Just saw a film on Kverneland where they run an electronic sled behind a tractor, this sled maps the fields and type of soils I think it also determines level of fertility, but not sure about this last one. All this info is uploaded to a ThumbDrive which is later inserted into a USB on a Kverneland IsoMatch Tellus Pro monitor, this monitor downloads all the info from the thumbdrive and suddenly one is all set up for planting fertilizing, skipping rows etc. Quite the set up IMO.

That would be a boon for the large acreage farmer

Even smaller farmers could use it advantageously, I saw another film where this "sled" was being pulled at quite a speed by a 4 wheeler, and subsequently they were talking about soil type and fertility, so this sled must be able to assess soil type and fertility without samples and having to ship & wait. This kind of technology is as you said a real boon.
