All the pure rr alfalfa acres had orchard grass no till drilled into them late August. This was the plan on acres with fertility to support alfalfa the last few years but I don't believe I will do this in the future. I can sell the pure alfalfa but the extra management and cost isn't returning enough to justify.
Weather this season was huge improvement from a year ago, I was blessed also with plenty of help. Nearly every acre of 1st cut was conditioned a 2nd time in addition to the crimper in the mower and we saw the benefits in drying. Probably stick with this regimen again and move toward doing it in one pass in the future
