I would rather have one where the spears fold up rather than out. If you park a tractor in a pasture the cows can still get into the points of the spear.
I always pull the top link pin and let the spear rest on the ground when I park in a pasture.

Cattle for sure like to rub on stationary things.....especially something that is introduced.....like your pickup truck, etc. and steers like to knock each other around....and into things. I like your thought of fold-up spears.
