small scale hay guy need to pick up a new to me baler. There is a 310 new holland close to me reasonable price decent shape and know just a little of its history. Have read about this model was faster stroke than what it replaced but had issues due to it not being rugged enough for the faster strokes. Any real world experience out there. Live in a very low farming area not allot of options locally without travelling
Check to make sure the feeder carriage is in good shape, not a lot of side play and has all the rollers on it. You can always run it a little slower to extend its life. We had a 310 for quite a while on our dairy farm and it worked out pretty good. If you want to run it at its rated speed just plan on keeping that feeder carriage in top condition otherwise it can potentially end up in a bale.
MNfarmer is correct, the feeder carriage is a weak feature on the NH 310. I had to get salvage parts for ours and even they wern't cheap. I had to give up on that baler due to repairing more than baling, and bought a NH 570.
