Farmer in texas looking for somebody to give me the run down on planting alfalfa.
i know yall know how, just need some pointers, when to plant, cut, which type is best things like that.
it would be very appreciated.

To answer your question on this web site would take a lot of space. These publications should answer 98.5% of your questions. In centeal Texas, alfalfa normally is seeded in fall and harvested about 10 bloom stage.

Start getting the fertility up and the PH adjusted 6 months before planting.
Work till level and smooth and pick all rocks up. Then pack tightly, should just barely be able to see your show print when walking on the ground. More stands fail because of a improper seed bed than anything else.
Can be drilled or broadcasted on. If broadcasting roll with a packer. Have done both but prefer using a drill.
