i have a small farm, 65 acres, farm part time. i had a 1978 605c i just sold, alittle too big for my 50hp j.d. i'm looking to get a 4x5 vemeer in the 4000 to 6000 dollar range, don't know that much about the different models anyone have any recommendations or advice. i have a local vemeer dealer that i'm going to go look at some used stuff.

It would likely be a 504, one of the earlier letters before the I..a little more money might get you a nice L model...just depends on where you are located and if they are available in abundance in your region. Might want to keep your eye on some upcoming winter auctions if there are a good bunch of Vermeers being used in your area...maybe one will come up. I think I seen one 5400 Rebel in your price range on tractorhouse...but do not know if you are close by. Good Luck.

I'd give $4k-6k in the blind for every 5400 Rebel out there. The 504 Super I balers in good condition will bring $6,000-9,000. 5400 Rebel baler will bring $7,000-10,000. The Vermeer 504F,G,&H's will bring $2,500-$5,000. The Vermeer 504I balers will bring $4,000-5,500. 504L & XL balers will bring $8,500-12,000.
